Contest Rules

  1. Submit one chamber music composition for 8 or fewer performers. It may be vocal, instrumental or electronic. Compositions may also combine acoustic and electroacoustic sounds. Works submitted must be original musical compositions which have received no previous award at the time of submission. Only one submission per student is allowed.
  2. Composers who submit compositions must either (a) study with a person who is a member in good standing of SCL, or (b) be a student member of SCL AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION. There are no other curricular or age restrictions.
  3. A cash prize for First and Second place winners in each competition will be awarded. The judging panel reserves the right to grant no award.
  4. Submissions must be received by midnight eastern time, on Deadline will be announced soon.
  5. All submissions must be done via email.
  6. Please submit one score in PDF format and one audio file in MP3 format. Only PDF and MP3 files are acceptable forms of submission.
  7. Works with multiple movements should be merged into single PDF and MP3 files.
  8. Please name your files as follows: lastname_firstname_title (.mp3 or .pdf) Such as: armstrong_louis_came-on-home.mp3
  9. Download and fill out the application. Submit the completed application and your composition documents, or a link to an online storage site such as Dropbox, to: lbarnes@transy.edu
