Who We Are
The Southeastern Composers League supports composers and scholars across the American Southeast through annual forums, performances, calls for scores, student competitions, and the publication of Music Now. Founded in 1950, SCL remains one of the region’s longest-running organizations devoted to contemporary concert music.

The SCL serves as a vital creative hub for new music in the region. We bridge the gap between imagination and live performance, providing members with the platform and community needed to bring contemporary concert works to life.

Annual Activities
Every year we host targeted student competitions and publish our community newsletter. It all culminates in our annual forum—a multi-day conference featuring peer presentations, panels, and live concert blocks.
Why It Matters
SCL helps turn our musical ideas, whether on a score, in a DAW, developed for computer music, or acoustic instruments, into living performances. Through our network, your works are evaluated by blind selection committees, played by wonderful regional ensembles, and amplified by a dedicated peer network.
